Letter writing socials are becoming increasingly popular in the U.S. and all over the world really, but the idea may perhaps be new to many of the folk on Guernsey, so here is a little heads up of what to expect at the GSY LWS monthly meetings.
As my friend and penpal, Barb over at ritewhileucan explains, “a letter writing social is all about keeping the art of letter writing alive.” It’s a dedicated time and space for people to gather together and simply put pen to paper.
It’s a place for those veteran letter writers amongst us to do their thing, to create their art and to share their passion.
It’s a also a safe place for the complete newbie to come along and learn more about the intriguing world of snail mail.
Don’t have any supplies? That’s okay! We will have plenty of pens, paper and even cute embellishments available to get you started at your very first meeting.
Don’t have anyone to write to? That’s okay too! We can assist you in finding some fabulous penpals and great causes to write to.
Our letter writing socials will be relaxed and fun and will be held on the first Wednesday of every month, from 19:00 – 21:00 at Le Gouffre Cafe, Forest. Our inaugural meeting is less than 3 weeks away now and we’d love for you to join us!
