Minutes of Meeting December 2017 | Guernsey Letter Writers Society

We had a great turn out for our December meeting with 9 members joining together to write letters and Christmas cards.

Jessica started off the meeting by reading a letter from J.R.R. Tolkien’s Letters to Father Christmas, which was written on a St Nicholas Day nearly 80 years ago.

During the “Show & Mail” part of the evening Jessica showed a special piece of mail she was creating for a friend’s birthday by turning a simple greeting card into a mini booklet.

Another member of the CLE Letter Writers Club was matched with a penpal from the GSY LWS with another 3 CLE members, plus 2 other penpal requests via the website still waiting to be matched.

This month we sadly had to say goodbye to two members who have joined us since our very first meeting. Cerys has a new job across the pond in Jersey and Adie will soon be relocating to France! We shall miss you and wish you well in your new adventures, don’t forget to write to us!

As for the stats we sent out an impressive 46 pieces of mail via Box No. 11 in Trinity Square, right outside where we meet for our letter writing socials.
