Kids Letter Writing Social!

Kids Letter Writing Social! | Guernsey Letter Writers Society

Following the interest in our first Kids LWS back in October we will be hosting another one in February Half Term! We will meet downstairs in Trinity Centre on Sat 16th Feb, between 10:00am-11:30am.

The session will mainly be aimed at primary school aged children, but older kids are more than welcome to come and join in or help out with the younger kids too if they want.

Amongst the usual letter writing and mail art that makes up the majority of every meeting there will also be a short story and snack time thrown in to end the morning.

The children are welcome to bring along their own stationery to use, but we will have lots of stationery supplies to share too. We will also have a few names of children in need of letters around the world, just in case your child doesn’t know who to write to.

If your little one(s) would like to join us at our next Kids LWS then please RSVP to let us know you’re coming either by emailing gsyletterwriters@gmail.com or simply comment over on Instagram.

KIDS LWS {Autumn Edition}

Kids LWS {Autumn Edition} | Guernsey Letter Writers Society

Saturday 3rd November turned out to be a fun morning for our first ever letter writing social for kids!

Four young and eager letter writers joined us down at Trinity Centre to get creative and put pen to paper. Each one was challenged to send out at least one letter of thanksgiving and all rose to the challenge beautifully.

Together they sent a whopping 14 pieces of mail out to a total of 4 different countries all of which were posted by the writer themselves into Trinity Square’s very own postbox, Box No. 11.

We ended the meeting with a reading of Tibs the Post Office Cat a sweet story set at the time of Queen Elizabeth II’s Coronation in 1953 and based on the real life post office cat that worked at the Mount Pleasant sorting office in London. Young Tibs is hired to catch the pesky mice that keep nibbling their way through all the letters, but instead he befriends them with wonderful results. Highly recommended!

Kids Letter Writing Social!

Kids LWS! | Guernsey Letter Writers Society

Over the past year that we have met to write letters as a group it’s been sweet to hear from members that their little ones are eager to join in and keen to put pen to paper too.

Therefore this autumn, in honour of the first anniversary of GSY LWS and so that we can encourage a new generation of letter writers, we will be hosting our first ever letter writing social just for kids!

We will be meeting as usual in Trinity Centre but at the earlier, more child friendly time of 10:00am-11:30am. The session will mainly be aimed at primary school aged children, but older kiddos are more than welcome to come and join in and help out with the younger kids too if they want.

Amongst the usual snail mail creating that makes up the majority of every meeting there will also be a story and snack time thrown in too.

The children are welcome to bring along their own stationery to use, but we will have plenty to share. We will also have a few names of children in need of letters around the world, just in case your child doesn’t know who to write to.

If your little one(s) would like to join us at our first ever Kids LWS then please RSVP to let us know you’re coming either by emailing gsyletterwriters@gmail.com or simply comment over on Instagram.
